The New England Patriots announced the release of wide receiver Tiquan Underwood on Saturday. To replace Underwood, defensive end Alex Silvestro has been signed off the practice squad. Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers, Silvestro has spent most of 2011 on the Patriots' practice squad, appearing in the Patriots' 27-24 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 16. Underwood caught three passes for 30 yards in six regular season games for the Patriots and was active for the team's first two playoff games. Underwood's release is a sign that Chad Ochocinco will play on Sunday.

Really sucks for Underwood. Kind of a rod move by the Patriots.
