The Bears released DT Anthony Adams on Sunday, creating more salary-cap space before free agency begins, the news was first reported by Michael Wright of ESPN Chicago. Adams, who had four starts in 11 games last season, was due $1.9 million in 2012, the move creates more flexibility for new Chicago general manager Phil Emery, who has plenty of needs to address in free agency. Adams' release saves the team more than $1.1 million in cap space. Adams played the past five seasons for the Bears after he spent his first four years with the 49ers.

Anthony Adams had a bad year and was inactive for 5 games in 2011. So this move really doesn't come as a suprise. The Bears can use that saved money towars resigning Amobi Okoye.
