The San Francisco 49ers are nearing a long-term deal with linebacker Ahmad Brooks, league sources said Tuesday. Brooks is one of several key free agents on the defensive side of the ball for the Niners, and the team remains likely to use the franchise tag on a defensive back, such as Carlos Rogers. The deal with Brooks could be finalized quickly and is expected to be worth roughly $7 million per year over five years. Brooks started every game last season for the 49ers and finished the season with 50 tackles, 7.0 sacks and one forced fumble. Source: NFL Network
Outstanding! This guy has really made improvements this year. A great all around linbacker. Tough against the run while still being an effective pass rusher. Brooks, Harlson, Smith, Bowman, Grant and Willis form one of the better if not the best line backing cores in the league.
I like Brooks but he disappeared late in the season. I'm fine with keeping him around but tbh I was starting to look forward to seeing how we replaced him. I think Brooks is as good as he's going to get for the most part, which is good enough but nothing special.
