Coach Gary Kubiak said during the scouting combine the Texans want to improve their talent and depth at wide receiver according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. The Texans have the 26th pick in the first round. They’re expected to use it on a receiver unless they need an outside linebacker to replace Mario Williams, who’ll become an unrestricted free agent March 13 if they can’t re-sign him. Starters Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter will turn 31 before next season. Jacoby Jones, the third receiver, will be 28 in the summer. “Andre missed 10 games (with hamstring injuries), but I thought Kevin and Jacoby played very well,†Kubiak said. “But I do think it’s important that we continue to develop young players. You’re always trying to get better, and hopefully we’ll continue to do that at that position.â€
