  1. Mock draft 2/29/2012

    Round 1

    1. Indianapolis (2-14): Andrew Luck (Stanford)- turn the page on the Manning era.

    2. Washington (5-11): RG3 (Baylor)- The Skins have been desperate for a QB for a long time now. RG3 is a good one. They're going to be fully willing to do whatever necessary.

    3. Minnesota (3-13) : Matt Kalil (USC)- They are in desperate need for a legit LT. They took their QB last year with Ponder now they can protect him with a better option than Charlie Johnson.

    4. Cleveland (4-12): Trent Richardson (Bama)- Peyton Hillis is on the way out and the Browns need to add as many playmakers as possible.

    5. Tampa Bay (4-12): Morris Claiborne (LSU)- Claiborne is a great CB and the Bucs need a long term replacement for Ronde Barber and Aquib Talib is always a wildcard.

    6. St. Louis (2-14): Riley Reiff (Iowa)- Reiff is a great prospect and the Rams missed on Jason Smith.

    7. Jacksonville (5-11): Quinton Coples (UNC)- The Jags have long been devoid of a good pass rusher. They missed on one with Derrick Harvey and hopefully this will fix that pass rush.

    8. Miami (6-10): Melvin Ingram (South Carolina)- I wouldn't be surprised to see Miami trade down. However, they really need a pass rusher and Ingram fits the bill. He can move all over the field and is just an athletic stud. I expect them to trade for Matt Flynn or Peyton Manning so that's why I don't have them drafting Tannehill.

    9. Carolina (6-10): Michael Brockers (LSU)- The Panthers hemorrhaged yardage last year and it was mainly due to a less than fantastic d.line and LB core. He is a good prospect that really bottles up the run.

    10. Buffalo (6-10): Courtney Upshaw (Bama)- Upshaw can play LB or DE. He would give Buffalo a good pass rusher that they've been missing.

    11. Kansas City (7-9): Dontari Poe (Memphis)- Poe would give KC a great NT that they need for that 3-4 scheme. His stock has sky rocketed.

    12. Seattle (7-9): Nick Perry (USC)- Seattle could use a pass rusher and Carrol can dip into his old talent pool and grab a good pass rusher.

    13. Arizona (8-8): Jonathan Martin (Stanford)- Martin would finally give the Cards a good OT. He is a guy that can pass protect.

    14. Dallas (8-8): Dre Kirkpatrick (Bama)- Dallas has been targeting Kirkpatrick for awhile. He is a tall CB who is a great talent.

    15. Philadelphia (8-8): Ryan Tannehill (Texas A&M)- Vick is getting older and the question is how much longer can he last. Tannehill could learn behind him for a year or two.

    16. New York Jets (8-8): Justin Blackmon (Ok St)- Some may be surprised he slips this low but their just isn't a good spot before here. The Jets could use a big wr to replace Plax.

    17. Cincinnati - from Oakland (8-8): David Decastro (Stanford)- He is an elite player at his position. Cincy is in need of a lot of things but Decastro could be too good a value to pass up.

    18. San Diego (8-8): Whitney Mercilus (Illinois)- Mercilus is a productive college player that many in scouting circles are not a fan of. The Chargers need a pass rushing LB.

    19. Chicago (8-8): Michael Floyd (Notre Dame)- Floyd is a good prospect and I think he will have a better combine than people think. Ever since Mike Tice took over as OC he has stressed the need of a great WR.

    20. Tennessee (9-7): Cordy Glenn (UGA)- The Titans need to give RB Chris Johnson some help up front.

    21. Cincinnati* (9-7): Janoris Jenkins (N. Alabama) An immensely talented guy who has had major problems with weed. The Bengals won't mind as they are always willing to take chances.

    22. Cleveland - from Atlanta* (10-6): Kendall Wright (Baylor) Wright is a speedy WR and that's one thing Cleveland's WR's have really lacked.

    23. Detroit* (10-6): Luke Kuechly (Boston College)- Kuechly is a great prospect. 4-3 LB's just usually don't go that high. He proved he had speed by running well at the combine.

    24. Pittsburgh* (12-4): Dont'a Hightower (Bama)- Pittsburgh really needs to start remaking an aging D. Hightower would be great in Pittsburgh.

    25. Denver* (8-8): Fletcher Cox (Miss St.)- Cox is a great prospect and can get after the passer. He is actually my favorite DT in the draft.

    26. Houston* (10-6): Reuben Randle (LSU) They need a great WR and Randle is very underrated. He would match well with Johnson.

    27. New England - from New Orleans* (13-3): Mark Barron (Bama)- The Pats won't risk having Barron picked before their second pick. Barron should step in immediately as soon as he is healthy and be a great starter for them. The NFL is a pass 1st league and it's obvious that the Pats secondary is not up to par.

    28. Green Bay* (15-1): Devon Still (Penn St.)- Still will come in and immediately compete to start. Pickett is an older guy and Still can develop behind him.

    29. Baltimore* (12-4): Peter Konz (Wisconsin) He gives the Ravens a great young linemen to build around inside. If he comes back they could use Konz at OG which is also a need until Birk retires.

    30. San Francisco* (13-3): Alfonzo Dennard (Nebraska)- Dennard is a physical CB and would fit what SF do at CB.

    31. New England* (13-3): Stephen Hill (GT)- Hill would give the Pats the deep threat they need since Moss mailed it in.

    32. New York Giants* (9-7): Jerel Worthy (Michigan St.)- Worthy is a nice prospect but must improve his consistency. The Giants are one of the best teams in the league at developing D.linemen.

There is absolutely NO WAY that the Eagles take a QB in the first round with WR/DT/LB/potential safety issues on the horizon. This would be worse than the Kolb pick.

I was thinking I liked it a lot until Philly. Maybe a couple tweaks but I still like this overall quite a bit.

Love your picks for the Pats. The 2 biggest needs addressed in the first round. I'd be thrilled with Hill.

From what I'm reading Ingram is tied with Perry on the wow factor of the Dolphin's FO.

  6. What WR issue? Jackson is going nowhere.

The Eagles never take LB's and I don't see that changing all the sudden. I expect them to address that in free agency.

Our pick is really hard to peg at this point, we have not yet begun telegraphing it to the rest of the NFL like the last two years

It's worth noting that we've started our homework on Jenkins. At this point that makes him the early favorite

Hightower is perfect for us, but not over Mike Adams.

If they go MLB they really need to go washington or Osemele in round 2.

Marcus Gilbert and Mike Adams would be magical long term at OT, they would then have to shift colon inside which at this point its worth a try

Eagles take either Michael Floyd or Luke Keuchy in the first round. Andy's butt is on the line and he NEEDS to address LB. They aren't going to pay a FA a ton of money when they need the money potentially for DJ and the fans are already split 50/50 on Reid and taking a QB in the first would be the easiest way for Reid to lose that other 50% and he knows it. The dude is a smart man. It'll be LB or WR. DJ MAY be an Eagle next year but if they don't work out a long term contract he's GONE after that. I'd LOVE Floyd as an Eagle.

Pretty good draft mock up but i think tannehill goes to the dolphins and not the eagles.

Reid will have dug his own grave with a bullcrap pick/risk like this.

    DeCastro? Floyd? Kuechly?

I'd bet $1,000 that in that scenario, they'd be more likely to trade down than take Tannehilll.
