It appears more and more likely San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson will reach the open market on March 13, the day free agency begins. General manager A.J. Smith said in a radio interview on Friday that Jackson probably won’t receive the franchise tag, though he didn’t rule it out. “I can tell you right out front, it's highly unlikely, and every time I look at that situation, I don't like it—I still don't like it—but we'll see,â€￾ Smith said on XERPS-AM radio in San Diego via NFL.com. “We'll see where that goes." Jackson is the only player the Chargers are considering for the franchise tag. Smith said the decision would be made on Monday, the final day a team can apply the tag. NFL.com reported that the Chargers would have to pay Jackson about $14 million this year to use the tag on him for the second straight year. "Right now, I'm not real comfortable with what I see for a tag, but we haven't ruled it out yet because we have so much to do, and we have different levels of plans that we do with different scenarios," Smith said.

As long as VJax can keep his nose clean from the law, i'd love to see him in a certain orange and navy blue uniform in the windy city. :icon_cool:

he's a good WR but there's only 1 WR in this league that's worth $14 mill a season.
