With Jon Kitna retiring, the Cowboys have apparently focused their attention on signing veteran backup quarterback Kyle Orton. With NFL free agency beginning on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted that Orton is "expected to visit Dallas." The Cowboys put in a claim for Orton after the Denver Broncos cut him during the season, however, the Kansas City Chiefs were awarded his services because they were higher on the waiver wire list. Orton, 29, played four seasons in Chicago before joining Denver for the previous three campaigns. He played four games with the Chiefs after the Broncos cut him, throwing one touchdown and two interceptions. Orton, who was selected by the Bears in the fourth round of the 2005 draft, had his three best NFL years from 2008-2010, tosing a total of 59 touchdown passes during that time.

If Orton is ok being a backup this would be an amazing addition.

Yea I'm cool with him as a backup to Romo. He is just not a full time starter material in my opinion.

Ditto. I had heard he was coming to town on a visit, but I hadn't heard anything about a deal being worked on.
