Seven teams are pursuing Denver Broncos free agent wide receiver and return man Eddie Royal, according to league sources with knowledge of the situation. That includes the Baltimore Ravens and the Washington Redskins. Royal hasn't been locked up by the Redskins despite reports that a two-year, $12 million deal had been struck. A speedy former Virginia Tech star selected in the second round by Mike Shanahan when he was the Broncos coach, Royal hauled in a career-high 91 passes for 980 yards and five touchdowns as a rooie. Royal, 25, caught 19 passes for 155 yards and a touchdown last season. Source: Scout.com
Yikes they offered him 2 yr 12 mil tho? Pretty high salary for special teams help. Seems like that guy kind of dropped off the earth after his rookie season. (Joking) In other news Washington is also trying to sign Mike Wallace, Laurent Robinson, Brandon Llyod, and Mario Manniningham, as well as trade for numerous other wide recievers. The hope of course is the Redskins will be able to run Mike Shanahans offense which requires a center, qb and nine wide receivers.
Eddie should check out all his avenues and get the most $$ he can, I'd look around before signing with the Redskins...ewwww...
