After two years trying to earn a starting job in Seattle, Charlie Whitehurst returned to where he started, agreeing to a two-year deal with San Diego. The Seahawks traded for Whitehurst two years ago with the Chargers, swapping second-round picks and giving up a third rounder with the hopes that the Clemson product could develop into the quarterback of the future. Whitehurst won an important game for the franchise and showed promise in helping to defeat St. Louis in the final regular season game of 2010, a 16-6 win that propelled Seattle into the playoffs. But the Seahawks went with Tarvaris Jackson as the starter in 2011, and when Whitehurst did get another chance against Cleveland, he struggled in a 9-6 loss on the road to the Browns, signaling the end of his time in Seattle.
