The man accused of fatally shooting Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor during a 2007 burglary has fired his attorney only one month before his murder trial according to the Associated Press. Eric Rivera Jr. gave the Miami-Dade County, Fla., judge a letter Friday explaining his reasons for firing Quinton Pitts, an experienced defense lawyer. The judge ordered the letter sealed and said a new lawyer would be appointed, he warned the 21-year-old Rivera that his trial will still begin April 16. Four men from the Fort Myers area are accused of killing Taylor during a robbery at the player's Miami-Dade home and all have pleaded not guilty and face possible life sentences if convicted. A fifth man has already pleaded guilty to murder and robbery and is expected to testify against the others.

I can't believe that it's taken 5 years to prosecute all of these guys, I know they are being tried separately but WTF... :moe:

You mean a good old fashioned mob stringing these dumb asses up outside the jail? How they can all plead not guilty and think they'll not be getting life in prison? The 5th dude admitted they were all there, robbed him and ended up shooting him. I hate these freaking morons and hoped they rot in hell/are sodomized often in prison.

Sure it seems lousy that it's taken so long to prosecute some people who we all think are guilty, but I'd rather live with those delays and costs in every murder trial ever than risk putting innocent people in prison. That crap is way worse.

All I hope is that when this goes to trial it doesn't end up someone on the justice's end fumble the ball at the one and he gets off on what amounts to a DQ.
