Wide receiver Mario Manningham, whose clutch playoff catches keyed the New York Giants’ Super Bowl run, has agreed to a two-year contract with the 49ers, ProFootballTalk.com and the NFL Network reported. Manningham visited the 49ers facility on Thursday before meeting with the St. Louis Rams, who reportedly were in contract negotations with him Saturday. Manningham caught a 17-yard touchdown pass in the Giants’ 20-17 overtime win over the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. He followed that up with five receptions for 73 yards in the 21-17 win over the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Niners had about $20M over the cap right? How much will be left in the till for Manning after this?

Are the Niners still looking for a #1 guy? Was Lloyd supposed to fill that spot? Manningham the answer?

Screw Lloyd he is a little drama queen. He is a little T.O. in attitude only. He had 2 good years and thinks that every team prior did not use him properly. Sorry he can make some great catches but when he was with SF he misses all the basic catches

I was bring more sarcastic than anything. Lloyd is a nobody without McDaniels' offense. I expect he would've reverted back to the Lloyd of old had he signed in San Fran.

I like Manningham, but is he their answer at WR or are they thirsty for more?

Im sure we'll be drafting one or two. I was expecting a first rounder but now Im not so sure, I think they'll go another direction early unless someone too good to pass up slips into their lap. Fleeners looking more and more possible IMO, all thats really lacking in the WR corps right now (so long as Moss doesnt totally flop) is the oversized go up and get it dude. I doubt Wallace is on the radar at this point.

I wanted hill from GT. that kid is going to be a beast. I would think they draft a wr in the 3rd round it is a pretty deep clbutt.

Damn the 49ers are stocked on offense now. Even Alex Smith couldn't heck this up, right?

    Couldn't help it, enjoy:

eh, i think they feel crabtree is a true #1 and i would agree with them. i think they're looking at manningham as their #2 and then whatever they get out of Moss will just be icing on the cake.

and, remember, v.d. is basically a #2 receiver.

i think they're good at WR, especially if Peyton goes there because he will make all their receivers better instantly. he doesn't need a bunch of free agents to generate a passing game.

The 49er's are scary Manningham is not a long term answer at WR, he is actually quite inconsistent and has missed a lot of games due to injuries, that catch in the Super Bowl is blinding everyone, remember that they had Cruz doubled that entire game, as well as Nicks.

yes, i agree. anyone who thinks manningham will step in and become their #1 receiver is overrating him. with both moss and manningham, the niners are hoping to catch lightning in a bottle with one of them and have one of them consistently produce and give them a more complete receiving corps. right now, it's literally just crabs and v.d. and that isn't enough.
