The Washington Redskins remain intent on re-signing veteran linebacker London Fletcher in free agency even though the two sides have not been able to work out a deal so far, Coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday according to Mark Maske of the Washington Post. “I’ve said this from day one: London is a team leader, a great player, and we want him back,†Shanahan said. Contract negotiations with Fletcher and his representatives have continued, according to Shanahan. “All I can say is we want him and there are conversations ongoing,†Shanahan said at the NFC coaches’ breakfast at the annual league meeting. Shanahan declined to directly address the issue of whether the Redskins’ salary cap hit has affected the team’s negotiations with Fletcher or other free agents. Source: The Redzone
