Eagles coach Andy Reid, who last week shot down an L.A. Times report that his personnel leadership was in dispute, says he 'goofed' on staffing his defense. Specifically, the linebacker and safety positions, points of weakness in the early going of 2011. "We had young guys there, and so I knew that going in," Reid said Wednesday at the NFL owners meetings. "The plan that I had I didn't execute it very well. Right? That's my responsibility. I goofed on that one, right? I expected the young guys on defense to get where they're getting by the end of the season sooner, particularly the middle of the defense -- linebackers and safeties. I expected the offense to carry it through. So that part didn't take place. But to tell you, yeah, your linebackers -- the more gaps you open up, the more physical they have to be. That's how it is."

Is this the first time Reid has admitted to do anything wrong?

He always puts everything on himself, but never actually admits to specific things he did wrong. This was a big step.

bigsexyy81 - that was my thought as well. It's easy for him to say it after a game at a presser that it's on him, he needs to put his guys in a better position, blah, blah, blah...

But this seems like he's taken a step...
