Although Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl running back Ray Rice indicated today during the unveiling of the new Nike uniforms that he looks forward to attending offseason workouts, sources close to the situation stressed that Rice won't be reporting until he has a new contract. Rice has been designated as the Ravens' franchise player, at a cost of $7.742 million. "I look forward to being there," Rice said today when asked today about whether he'll attend offseason workouts. Rice has been consistent in taking the high road when it comes to the negotiations, but sources emphasized that the versatile star runner has no plans to attend offseason workouts until a contract has been finalized. Rice told reporters today: I think progress is being made, but I know things don't happen overnight," adding, "If they want to get a deal done, we'll get a deal done." The Ravens have until July 15 to get a long-term deal done for Rice. Otherwise, he'll play under the franchise tag this season. Source: Scout.com
I would cut or trade him. Not coming to workouts. He is worn down, where was he during the playoffs. He stunk. Trade in for a higher draft and get a better player.
WHAT!?!? Are you kidding me? Ray Rice was the reason they even made it to the playoffs, it was the coaching staff that only had him touching the ball 5 to 10 times in some games and when they did that they lost. And how is he worn down the guy has not had any significant injuries and he was getting paid second round money. Without Rice ravens have nothing.
