The Philadelphia Eagles announced that they have agreed to terms on a five-year contract with free agent offensive tackle Demetrius Bell. Financial terms were not disclosed. A seventh round pick out of Northwestern State by the Buffalo Bills in 2008, the 6-foot-5, 311-pound Bell sat his entire rookie season before starting 30 of 31 games over the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons. Bell missed nine games with shoulder and knee injuries in 2011.

Any 5 year deal is really a 2 or 3 year deal. We probably overpaid for him, but what else can you do? Can't let the season go to crap because of an injury this early in the season especially when there are options out there.

You're right i guess when you first hear 5 years you kinda freak out but in the NFL nothing is guarantee so I'm happy if its like a 2 year deal almost as insurance for Peters recovery.

i'm hearing that only the first year is guaranteed so the eagles can cut him after this season with no further cap hits.
