Free agent wide receiver Jerome Simpson was sentenced to 15 days in jail and three years' probation following his guilty plea on drug charges in Covington, Kentucky, The Associated Press reports. Last month, Simpson admitted in Kenton Circuit Court to accepting a package of marijuana that was shipped to his home. In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors amended the charge from one count of trafficking marijuana in excess of eight ounces to one count of prohibited acts relating to controlled substances. Both charges are felonies and a 60-day sentence had been recommended by the Commonwealth's prosecutor. Simpson was scheduled to visit the St. Louis Rams on Wednesday. Source: Mac's Football Blog
