Warren Sapp’s employment with the NFL Network is likely over, according to Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe who cites two league sources. Sapp has not been on the network since the week of his tweets and on-air comments that labeled tight end Jeremy Shockey as the “snitch’’ in the Saints bounty scandal - something Roger Goodell said was not true. Sapp’s next on-air appearance has not been determined, according to a source. Sapp recently filed for bankruptcy, according to TMZ.com, and the documents said his NFL Network contract, which pays him $540,000 annually, expires in August. Sapp’s contract is not expected to be renewed, a league source said. A network spokesman said discipline is an internal matter and wouldn’t confirm Sapp’s status.

Honestly I wish NFL Network, ESPN and the rest of them would really look at the sports figures that they hire. I think the hiring of Sapp in the first place was a disaster, and if you go back a tad the hiring of Joe Montana, Emmitt Smith and a few others I can't remember just showed everyone that if you retire from the NFL we'll put you on TV no matter how boring and how uneducated you sound, truly horrible.

I've said for a long time that I absolutely hate the trend of hiring retired athletes for this stuff. Yes, they can have some great insight at times. But they either suck or heck up past the point of it being informative.

My problem with him was the same as a lot of the ex-jocks. They just don't have brakes on their mouths. For every good/great point, they tend to overdo it with constant rambling.

    Sometimes less is more...

Plus they seem to hire all the loudmouth jackasses. Sapp, Sharpe, Michael Irvin, etc.
