If you were wondering at any point why the St. Louis Rams didn't try to move QB Sam Bradford and his weighty contract and replace him with Robert Griffin III (or Andrew Luck) in the upcoming draft, here's your answer. "There's a number of friends of mine in the league that know the league, and I had one of them tell me during the process that they thought Sam may be one of the better quarterbacks -- or the best quarterback -- in the league, he just hasn't had a chance to prove it yet," head coach Jeff Fisher said on ESPN's Mike and Mike in the Morning. "That weighed very heavily in my opinion. Very, very impressive player. I think he has a tremendous upside." The Rams shipped the No. 2 pick to the Redskins last month for a package of selections, including three first-round choices. Bradford, who was the 2010 offensive rookie of the year after being selected No. 1 overall but comes off an injury-pocked 2011 campaign, is 8-18 in 26 NFL starts but, as Fisher notes, has had few threats to work with in St. Louis' passing game. "We ended up, at the end of the day, with a great deal," Fisher said. "Washington's really excited, and we're really excited."

He has the size and arm to be successful. Use those picks and surround him with talent and go for it.

I'm sure it's just the old dog in me but it still is funny how young QBs are thrown to the wolves in today's instant gratification/return on money society & quickly written off if they aren't immediately successful.

    What a waste of talent.....

He had one of the all time best rookie seasons for a QB, there was a lockout taking away his second training camp and was hurt throughout the season. He's now effectively entering his second season of development.

Just seems like an absurd comment to make after a post based around judging QB's too early.

Yea, probably too short a snippet to make the whole point.

The comment was based on the pattern that's been the norm. There's already been enough pundit grumblings about this kid here & there across the air/print waves to start adding the pressure. Even in this column pointing out moving him & his weighty contract.

Mark my words, he doesn't start guns a-blazin', the vultures will start their feast.
