Chiefs defensive end Tyson Jackson became another Top 5 pick from the 2009 NFL Draft to agree to a restructured contract, a league source has confirmed. Under the restructure, Jackson's base salary this season has gone from $8.05 million to $4.25 million, with $4 million fully guaranteed (skill, injury, cap). Jackson's $250,000 workout bonus remains and he is eligible to earn a $500,000 playing-time incentive. In terms of the salary cap, the 2014 season of Jackson's contract has been deleted, accelerating the $2.5 million in option bonus from that season onto this year's cap. Despite that, Jackson's cap number has been reduced from $10.755 million to $9.5 million, a savings of $1.255 million for the 2012 season. Jackson's 2013 base salary remains at $14.72 million, $3.22 million of which is guaranteed for injury and cap.

this has been discussed quite a bit in kansas city. he had an $8 mill salary this year that explodes to almost $15 mill next year. tyson jackson isn't worth $15 mill obviously and really isn't worth $8 mill. run-stopping DE's just don't make that much.

his pay for this year is now about where it should be ($5 mill) and both sides are going to have to figure out if they can work out a new deal before next season or the chiefs will have no option but to cut him.

Unless he can find a way to rush the passer while still maintaining the discipline in run defense that Crennel demands. Probably won't happen. I don't see the Chiefs signing Dorsey either.

well, they could sign them for what they are worth (rotational linemen) ........... but if either gets offered stud money on the open market, they should let them walk obviously.
