Chicago Cubs veteran outfielder Marlon Byrd has told ESPNChicago.com's Bruce Levine that he's being traded to the Boston Red Sox and will be leaving Sunday to join his new team.A team source told ESPNBoston.com's Gordon Edes that Boston will send right-hander Michael Bowden and cash to the Cubs. The trade won't be officially confirmed by the teams until sometime after Saturday's game between the Red Sox and Yankees, a 15-9 New York victory.Byrd did not play in Chicago's 6-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds Saturday afternoon.

I need to start paying more attention to baseball. I don't even recognize anyone on this team anymore.

Actually this might be one season that you want to pay less attention to baseball. This Cubs team is miserably bad. Most of the players they acquired in the off-season were cheap retreads. Looks like a burn it down and build it back up approach.

    word.

Interested to see what this Bowden guy can do. He is still relatively young and Theo obviously is familiar with him. Also the Cubs are getting a PTBNL which will be another pitcher, they have a list of pitchers to choose from by May. Time for Theo to fire up the magic spreadsheet! :icon_cheesygrin:
