Darrelle Revis was unsure on Monday night about whether he will hold out for the second time in three seasons if the Jets don't give him a long-term extension. The All-Pro cornerback staged a 35-day holdout during training camp in 2010 before agreeing to a four-year, $46 million re-worked deal. At the time, it was believed to be a temporary solution. "I just don't know," Revis said on Monday night during a charity event in New York. "I'm not saying I am going to hold out. I'm not saying I'm not." Revis said that he'd let his agents deal with the contract particulars. "Right now, my focus is being on the team," said Revis, who earned $32.5 million in the past seasons. jesus christ, the guy just signed a contract 18 months ago. are we going to start having players sign contracts at 9 a.m. and by the end of the same day start snitching about them?
What did he make last year? $25M or something like that and is the highest paid CB in the league? Big I'm the Jets I tell him not to come to camp until he undergoes a reality check...lol.
The way he does his job is to make sure no one throws his way. If they do, then his job is to intercept the pbutt. Is it worth 25 million? No. I don't think anyone else will give him that money. Just needs to play the rest of the contract and shut up.
actually, revis made $32.5 million in the first 2 years of the contract. it now plummets to $7.5 mill this year and $6 mill next year which, in the revis world, is chump change.
$25 million in 2011 - $18M first-year option bonus and his salary for 2011- $6M plus $1M roster bonus 2012 is 4.5M and a $3M roster bonus. Crazy talk...
in all fairness, if guys like brandon carr and cortland finnegan are getting $50 million deals, revis probably deserves a $70 or $80 mill deal. carr and finnegan are legit #1 corners but revis has been the best cb in the league for a while now.
