The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free agent wide receiver Jerome Simpson, Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports. Financial terms were not disclosed, but if Simpson makes the 53-man roster, he'll be serving a three-game suspension to start the 2012 regular season after pleading guilty on felony drug charges in Kentucky. Simpson was sentenced to 15 days in jail and three years' probation as part of his plea agreement. Once Simpson returns from his suspension, he'll be a good No. 2 option opposite Percy Harvin or an outstanding No. 3 receiver if the Vikings pull the trigger on Oklahoma State wideout Justin Blackmon with the third overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. While financial details were not disclosed, it's safe to assume that Simpson received the league minimum base salary ($700,000) and could potentially forfeit $123,529 during his suspension, provided that Simpson did not sign a "minimum salary benefit" contract, the Vikings could have set his base salary at $850,000, which would reduce to $700,000 minus the three game checks that Simpson will miss.

1-year league minimum contract after his best season on the field and only 26 years old?

you think teams are a little nervous about his off-the-field behavior? i would say so.
