It’s been widely reported that Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland is like a kid on Christmas since drafting Tannehill at #8 overall. Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post takes another looks at the decision to draft Tannehill. “If had we eight to ten more games of film to watch Ryan Tannehill play that position, I think we’re looking at him in the same breath as Griffin and maybe Luck,†Ireland said. “I think he’s got that kind of ability and arm talent.†The problem, of course, is that he doesn’t have those eight to ten more games of experience. This doesn’t mean that Tannehill won’t perform, or even that he won’t perform quickly, but the bust potential is somewhat increased. Nevertheless, Ireland makes a great point: “Experience is something that he doesn’t have a lot of. But the games that he played, that also impresses you, because he was also able to do something pretty damn good in a short period of time,†Ireland said. “If he had a few more games under his belt from an experience standpoint, you would’ve seen a progression of him getting better and better, and you did see that.†Source: NFL Trade Rumors
The only silver lining for Dolphins fans is that he gets to continue to develop alongside Mike Sherman.
They don't play defense in in the Big 12 Jeff. And your comment about him in the same breath as RG3 and Luck solidifies you as the most ignorant man in the NFL.
you know, these teams just need to shut the heck up trying to defend these 'unpopular' picks. we don't need these g.m.'s and coaches to tell us why they think they're going to be good. we all know the pros/cons of each player. we will now just need to see how all of these guys pan out.
As long as he can sit and learn, he will still be better than Henne. All I want is consistent. I will be happy with that.
I'm aware it was a joke. You said you wanted a consistent QB and I said yeah he will be consistently mediocre.
I know the joke, but I don't think he will be that bad. He doesn't need to be Brady Manning or Rodgers, just a good player.
