The NFL Players Association has issued the following statement regarding NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's punishment of four current and former members of the New Orleans Saints for their involvement in an illegal bounty program. "After seeing the NFL's decision letters, the NFLPA has still not received any detailed or specific evidence from the league of these specific players' involvement in an alleged pay-to-injure program," NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith said. "We have made it clear that punishment without evidence is not fair. We have spoken with our players and their representatives and we will vigorously protect and pursue all options on their behalf." The players suspended on Wednesday -- current Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma and defensive end Will Smith, current Cleveland Browns linebacker Scott Fujita and Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove -- have three days to appeal Commissioner Goodell's rulings.
