The Browns have agreed to terms of a four-year contract with rookie wide receiver Travis Benjamin, a league source confirmed for the Beacon Journal this evening. The terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. The Browns drafted Benjamin in the fourth round (No. 100 overall) out of Miami. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Benjamin started nine of 11 games last season, catching 41 passes for 609 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned 25 kickoffs for 592 yards (23.7 average) and 11 punts for 121 yards (11.0 average) as a senior. Source: Akron Beacon-Journal
If he's productive it doesn't matter where he was drafted, I'm not going to pretend to know more than GMs because I doubted the heck out of Phil Taylor, TJ Ward, etc. and they've been just fine. Hardesty, another story.
During the draft season all he was talked about was a gap-filler who fit at NT, and at the time that was literally all we had on the dline with Rubin. They came out with 2 NTs when switching to a 43, it was cause for head scratching at the time..
