Bears QB Jay Cutler Admits He's Concerned With Offensive Line

Jay Cutler is a lot like Bears fans out there. He's worried about the team's offensive line. “You know, the offensive line is definitely going to be a concern and seeing where those guys are going to fit in and seeing what five we go with,†Cutler said via the Chicago Sun-Times when asked about the upcoming season. “If Gabe [Carimi] comes back, if J’Marcus [Webb] pans out. Where are we going to put Chris Williams? There are some question marks there. Until we really get that resolved and get our front five settled in, we’ve got some work to do on offense." Cutler's honesty won't win him any points in Chicago, but we love it. He's essentially questioning the team's strategy to not draft offensive linemen. We questioned that strategy as well after the draft, and heard from a few angry Bears fans that said we were making too much out of nothing. The fans say that getting rid of offensive coordinator Mike Martz solves everything. Cutler disagrees. "It helps some, but it’s not a cure all by any means," Cutler said. "They’re still going to be asked to protect. There are going to be times it’s third-and-eight, third-and-10 and we’re going to have to take seven-step drops and we’re going to have the longer route and they’re going to have to protect."

Don't piss those guys off, bad things happen to QB's that put their OL down publicly.

What are they going to do? Let pass rushers get to him unblocked? They do that anyways.

Guess Jay's gettin' tired of being the Sunday piece of butt for NFL defensive linemen.

I don't agree with the concussion lawsuit parade but with all the hollow promises Bear Brass has made about this piss poor OL for so many years, I don't think they should just be sued but brought up on charges.

yep, i think in this situation, their o-line has been so neglected for so long that i don't have a problem with forte or cutler or any of their other leaders saying something.

really, if they were to stay healthy this season, they could be pretty good, but that o-line is probably going to get someone hurt again.

I think the Beats have taken 2 offensive lineman in the draft since 2008 or maybe 2009...that's ridiculous for a team that has had a crappy o line. I mean, they didn't even try to improve it, it's just downright neglected.

It makes me laugh when people sag the Steelers neglect their "o-line problems.". Difference between the Bears and the Steelers here is that the Steelers have tried to address it in the past, they just did a crapty job doing so...but the "effort" was there.
