City officials say Indianapolis lost more than expected hosting this year's Super Bowl. Leaders of the city's sports and convention board say final figures on tax revenue and expenses show it lost $1.1 million on the February game, about $300,000 more than expected. The biggest expenses was $3.6 million for police and fire protection. The Capital Improvement Board received about $2.9 million more in hotel, restaurant and auto rental taxes during the Super Bowl period than during the same time a year earlier. Board president Ann Lathrop told reporters Monday that the $1 million was a good investment for the national exposure the city received and that it could be absorbed in the agency's operating budget. From what I heard the week leading up to the Bowl was more family driven but not many families can afford to go there. If they wanted a better turnout they should have targeted the actual people who go there. Business execs, stars, big wigs. Next time have more bars and hookers. Why do you think New Orleans is so popular?
Again the D-FW area has more hotel space than Tampa, Indy, or NO. That's why it'll be back in Jerry World before too long.
Yeah, but it'll happen in the 5-7 years. It can't happen in the next 3 years because they're already set in NO, NJ, and AZ, respectively.
Are you discounting, St. Pete, Clearwater, Brandon, and Sarasota? DFW area? What does that include? Every SB "Tampa" has had has been the benchmark for the next city.
