Speaking with reporters at a team press conference, New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson responded to reports that quarterback Drew Brees was frustrated with the lack of contract talks. "Well, I talked to Drew Brees...it wasn't too long ago. He and I always have nice conversations, his agent and us and Mickey Loomis, primarily, are trying to work out the details," Benson said. "There's money involved, and two people have some difference of opinion...but it's going to be worked out. I assure you that Drew Brees will be playing here." General Manager Mickey Loomis went on to say the team and Brees will eventually settle on a deal, but that it may not be right away. "This is important, it's not just important to Drew, but it's important to our team," Loomis said. "The magnitude of this contract is going to impact our team for a long, long period of time, and so we've got to get it right. Got to get it right. i am the point where i say heck both parties involved....this deal has to get done. i don't care who else we brought in this offseason, we are pretty much done without brees. on the same note, brees needs to do his part to make sure this gets done.
With all the BS y'all are going to have to put up with, not signing Brees would be freaking goobered.
Brees may wait until after the deadline for getting a new deal, sign the tender and then bolt next season. I can see this crap playing out like that.
I just don't trust Benson. He was made to stay in New Orleans after the flood. And he couldn't find more loyal fans anywhere else. Where else is the team so ingrained in the psyche of the fans besides Green Bay.
