For Dallas Cowboys linebacker Anthony Spencer, playing opposite perennial Pro Bowl pass-rusher DeMarcus Ware has its advantages. He's able to focus on stopping the run and rarely sees double teams when he's asked to rush the quarterback. The downside is he's a first-round pick whose production will always be compared to Ware, who has 80 sacks to Spencer's 21.5 during their five seasons together. "It's both a curse and a blessing," Spencer recently said of playing opposite Ware, according to Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I wouldn't say it's a curse, but it has its benefits and its non-benefits being across from him, definitely."

You know how many players would love for the chance to play on the other side of Ware?

    Screw this guy.

I dont think "non-benefits" is a word. This guy has clearly had too many concussions.

The comments above are completely goobered. How is it not a curse? Go look up the numbers to the same position that Spencer plays, he does a grand job where he's at, but to a Cowboys fans eyes.. he will never be good enough, due to being opposite of DWare.

woodley didnt recieve the double teams harrison got until woodley made them double team him...spencer just plateaued as a pass rusher, really ive said since their rookie year that woodley turned out to be everything the cowboys hoped spencer would with that first round pick.

80/21 ratio just isnt getting it done, it has nothing to do with ware...who is getting it done

Spencers problem is that he simply isn't a 3-4 rusher. He's a good rusher with his hand in the dirt, but he just doesn't have the suddenes to do it consistently standing up

IMO a 3-4 rusher shouldnt be getting 20 sacks. It looks nice ans all, but that means the guy opposite him isn't a consistant enough rusher to threaten the defence ans your defense is predictable the offence knows where the threat is

Imagine if there was someone worth fearing opposite of Ware to take away some of the double teams.

    That's scary.
