ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reported Wednesday that defensive end Osi Umenyiora and the Giants remain "very far apart" in talks for a new deal, per Rotoworld.com. Paolantonio reported "open dialogue" between the sides, but the Giants aren't in any rush to overpay for the defensive end, who has another year left on his current deal (for just under $4 million) and turns 31 in November. Giants general manager Jerry Reese has talked about wanting to work something out with Umenyiora, but this offseason hardly has been a smooth one. The eight-year veteran criticized the Giants for offering him a deal "half" the size of the pact furnished to defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka. Umenyiora bashed the team for making him look like a "greedy pig" after he turned down the offer. Source: NFL.com
They've been far apart for almost half a decade, but Osi's cat butt shows up every year even when he talks like he won't.
seriously, i feel like this has been an ongoing contact dispute forever. hes the 3rd best DE on that team...id like to see him leave NY and go elsewhere personally. Maybe use him in a 34
wow really? I thought he was second behind Jason. Wasnt he one of the best DEs after the 07 superbowl?
Tuck was a monster in that playoff run. Osi is so bad against the run, i think hed be useful as a 34 edge rusher if he could hold up
