Chad Ochocinco is no longer a member of the New England Patriots, according to the NFL Network and ESPN. Ochocinco's release came after the team's unsuccessful attempts to trade him during the day. The veteran wide receiver was absent for Thursday's final round of organized team activities, leaving Gillette Stadium shortly after he arrived in the morning, Sporting News correspondent Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reported. There had been growing speculation regarding Ochocinco's future, given the Patriots added free-agent wide receiver in Brandon Lloyd, who better fits coordinator Josh McDaniels' offense. Sources told Young that Ochocinco "still has it physically," but the big question was mental as he struggled to grasp the playbook.

Inevitable...guess they doing him a favor of doing it early so he can latch on somewhere. I think he can still help someone, he just too much of a free lancer to be in a system like NE's.

yup still a decent amount of teams that could use him in the right system he could do very well. Shoot i wouldent even mind if he was a eagle for depth.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind him in Dallas.. I think he would do good as a #3. I know Jerry Jones has a hard on for him. With Garrett I don't think his shenanigans would fly.. so he might fit ok here.. Just a thought..
