The 49ers are one of a handful of teams who are interested in Brian Banks, the 26-year-old linebacker from Southern California who was wrongfully incarcerated for five years. Banks had a workout Thursday with the Seahawks and is working out for the Chargers today, agent Bruce Tollner said. Tollner said Banks had a handful of visits scheduled next week but there was nothing concrete with the 49ers at this point. One of the first steps a team must take is deciding which position Banks will play. Tollner said some teams envision him - he's 6-2, 240 pounds -- as an inside linebacker, some see him playing outside linebacker. Source: Sacramento Bee
I'd kind of like to see him go to the dolphins. Hard Knocks would be much better, and this guy could use some positive media exposure. Hope he makes it in the league too of course.
Im aware of that. There's still a crowd at every LB position. He'd be at minimum behind Willis Bowman Grant and Gooden inside, and Smith Brooks Haralson Johnson and Harbaughs boy Bakhitari (however its spelled) outside. I mean crap, sure, kick the tires on him its not going to hurt anything, but a dude who hasnt played at any level in a decade or whatever isnt going to stand much chance of making that roster, let alone getting on the field.
He will not make any roster. He will be on a practice squad some we're. What better place then SF 49ers n Lakers for life
I wouldn't expect him to make a major impact for at least a year or two anyway so what does a team have to lose if he's got the goods to be on a practice squad?
