Running back Sammy Morris played for the Pats from 2007-10 before he was released last training camp. The 35-year-old said he discussed a potential reunion for 2012, but nothing is set in stone. Still, the interest is mutual, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports. “It’s definitely reciprocal,†Morris said. “I’m still here. My family is here. My kids still go to school here, so it’s definitely reciprocal. I’ve been around a while, so I kind of just know the deal. Words are one thing, but all I can do is take care of my part. If something materializes, then I know I’ll be ready.â€

And he was awful then too. You know you suck when you get picked up 12 games into the season and still can't get above a 3.2 ypc against tired Ds

I think this really says a lot about how much weight the Pats (and probably most of the better teams, especially those with long-established coaching staffs) put on a player who knows the system inside and out, even if their "talent" isn't at the level of other available options. You can't tell me that even this late in FA there's not more "talented" guys out there than Morris. Ryan Grant, Derrick Ward, Benson, crap probably even Jerious Norwood and Cadillac all have more left in the tank than Morris, not to mention college UDFAs, but I think they learned their lesson about it last year with Ocho, who gives a crap how talented you are or what youve done in the past if you cant even grasp the system enough to contribute in any significant manner. Morris might not be much with the ball anymore but you're never going to have to worry about him taking the wrong blocking assignment or being somewhere else on the field than the play calls for him to be. I think all that is a lot more important than many fans give it credit for.
