Michael Strahan would not have showed up for work if the New York Giants had offered him what they finally used to settle a contract showdown with Osi Umenyiora. Strahan had his own beefs with the organization during his playing days over money, and Umenyiora had been at it with the Giants for a couple years before a deal was re-worked earlier this month. That doesn’t mean the deal would have satisfied Strahan. “To be honest with you, it’s flat-out robbery,’’ Strahan said, according to the New York Post. “If it were me, I would have sat at home and I wouldn’t have played. That’s just me. I’ve threatened to do that in my time and I ended up getting what I wanted. Osi’s a different mindset than me. I’m probably a little more, ‘I don’t care what people think.’ “For him it works out, he’s going to be fine, he’s going to play well. If he played well under the previous situations of being unhappy to being somewhat happy now, I’m sure he’ll do great.’’ Strahan would have taken a more hard-line business approach to the situation. He says Umenyiora is too nice. “He just didn’t take advantage of it at the times when he should have,’’ Strahan said. “I think Osi has a good heart. He expects for people to do as what he would do, you expect people to treat you the way you expect to be treated. Sometimes in the game of business it doesn’t work that way and you have to understand it as a player sooner rather than later.’’ Source: National Football Post
in 9 years osi has made $22.58 million, not too bad considering hes strictly a pass rusher and currently the 3rd best DE on that team, including about 17 million of that over the last 4 years. robbery my ass
