Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reports that the St Louis Rams and second-round pick CB Janoris Jenkins are off to a rocky start because of a verbal pre-draft agreement that’s impermissible, according to terms of the collective bargaining agreement. “We know there can’t be any pre-conditions to the contract,†a Rams source said last week. During April’s NFL draft, Jeff Fisher made Jenkins’ agent, Malik Shareef, promise that he would hire a business manager to help Jenkins navigate his personal issues. Fisher wants Lou Taylor of Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group to advise Jenkins, but any such agreement isn’t allowed based on the new CBA. The two sides will have to resolve this issue before a deal is finalized, but this is not how you would like things to start off when you’re drafting a player with the kinds of concerns that Jenkins has.

All the talent in the world. As far as decision making....he fails miserably.

Yep. Rams need the talent, too. Without the personality problems.

hes been clean for a long time as far as anyone knows, he really shouldnt be forced into having a financial advisor of jeff fishers choice unless that was a pre draft agreement between them. his concerns are overblown and everything referenced in this thread is now 2 years old. he did good at his last fresh start at N Bama, and the NFL is another fresh start for him, this really isnt fair imo

It states that it was a pre-draft agreement. However, it also states that under the new CBA, no such deal can be made. So, Janoris should be able to sign without having the financial advisor. This is stupid on the Rams side of it.

ah the agent agreed to it, i misread.

if he agreed to have one, he should get one...it shoudlt be up to fisher who it is though

Yes, but according to the new CBA in place, it wouldn't stand. Even if an agreement was made. Nonetheless, no..Fisher shouldn't be the one to choose him.

wouldn't the adviser be a good thing? Kinda keep him money in check.

Not for Jenkins. He wouldn't be able to buy a $40,000 watch...

Fisher has got some experience after the Pacman debacle in Tennessee. He doesn't want to risk reliving that. I just don't know how he can demand something like this....

it's got to be written into his contract but damn if I'm going to let someone tell me who is going to manage my money. If the required him to have a FA and he picked his own that's one thing. But what happens if this butthole bleeds JJ dry? Who's at fault? Fisher? Titans?

Yeah, aren't they setting themselves up for legal backlash if this blows up in their face?
