In late April, "Around the League" pointed out how the Denver Broncos were among a growing list of teams scraping their monster-sized playbooks for the iPad. Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams was even kind enough to show the Internets the playbook function of the device, much to the chagrin of head coach John Fox. The Broncos are now three months in, and the change has received the stamp of approval of their biggest offseason acquisition, quarterback Peyton Manning. "Peyton loves it," Broncos video director Steve Boxer told FOXSports.com in a Thursday report. "He was one of the first guys I dropped video into an iPad for." Manning mentioned to reporters during OTAs that the ability to study both the playbook and game film on one device eliminates excuses for a lack of preparedness and considering how the iPad can be so versatile, portable, and how it can be programmed to block certain web sites and scrubbed remotely if lost or stolen, it would not be a surprise if all 32 teams had some form of tablet technology by 2013. I think a lot of NFL QBs are going to enjoy those iPads instead of having to carry those huge playbooks around with them.
I agree. Plus with the new rules to prevent injuries to QBs, meaning if they are touched with one pinky finger to the head a flag is thrown.. carrying around that HUGE playbook could be a hazard to their health. One drop on the big toe, and done for the season!
Sure. It's a work related injury, why not? But, nonetheless. I can definitely see all the teams using this soon. It would be much easier, so long as they can keep hacking out of play. That will be the next scandal.
