On Friday, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson faced his first day in court for an arrest last weekend in Houston, however, Friday was primarily procedural, and AP had his case reset to August 6.The Houston Chronicle called it a "brief" appearance and when exiting, Peterson reiterated his innocence in the case. Peterson said, according to the Associated Press, that he is ''200 percent innocent'' and that he didn't ''push, shove, touch anyone that night, especially an officer.'' Peterson was arrested early Saturday morning after an alleged altercation between the running back and some off-duty police officers. On the heels of allegations from the Houston Police Department that he was out of control and shoved police officers, Peterson hired attorney Rusty Hardin -- of Roger Clemens defense fame -- and his new counsel promptly went on a heavy media tour explaining that Peterson is, in fact, completely innocent of all allegations. Hardin's comments and the allegations from the police stand in stark contrast -- Hardin said that AP "did not resist arrest" and that the facts "will clearly show Adrian was the victim" in the alleged melee. "Adrian Peterson did not resist arrest this past Saturday morning and any suggestion that he pushed, struck or shoved a Houston Police Officer is a total fabrication," Hardin said in a statement earlier in the week. "He, in fact, was struck at least twice in the face for absolutely no legitimate reason, and when all the evidence is impartially reviewed, it will clearly show Adrian was the victim, not the aggressor."
