USC QB Matt Barkley Confident He Would Have Been Picked Over RGIII

USC quarterback Matt Barkley appeared on the Dan Patrick Show today and talked about his decision to forego the draft last season and more, Barkley said that he may not have come back to USC if the Trojans were not eligible for bowls this year. But he said that he hasn’t had any regrets about staying. Dan asked Barkley what team does he think would have taken him if he went into the draft Barkley said maybe Minnesota, who picked No. 4 overall. Barkley also mentioned the Browns and the Dolphins, he also said that he is confident he could have been the second quarterback taken over Robert Griffin III. “I had confidence that I was going to go high,â€￾ Barkley said. “It wasn’t really a question of that as to why I came back.â€￾

Confidence, a good thing. But I don't like him saying he was sure he'd go over RG3. Could have been the case, but that's irrelevant here. RG knew he wasn't going to win a National title at Baylor. Barkley can at USC, so we'll see.

 

no way in hell, he'll be lucky to be the #1 QB this year...he almost certainly would have been 3rd taken this year

 

I agree, though. I don't think Barkley is that great. Look at other USC QBs of late that have been hyped..and their NFL career.

 

Next year is going to be a loaded first round for QBs. At least 4, maybe more if Bray comes out

i do think hes the best of the recent guys, very brees-esque in the pocket and with his release....the USC QB trend may actually help him by scaring teams away allowing him to go to a better team.

Hes good, but luck was a #1 lock and he doesnt have near the wow as RG3. Funny he should talk now though, at the time i could have swore he did this to be the #1 guy next year as it was becoming all to clear hed be the #3 this year

 

I think Bray and Thomas may go ahead of him on pure athletic ability

i kinda like barkley #1 still over wilson, bray, thomas, and murray (murray i dont see as a legit prospect personally)

Big seasons could push Bray and Thomas way just do to physical talent. Both are very green, but that doesn't seem to matter anymore

This...factor in the fit RG3 is for the Redskins offense and its just no way he would have gone over him. But i do like him as a player.

I think we are going to draft a QB on the first and it seems Jones would make sence draft position wise (15-22). It ires me to no end that a OU QB could be a cowboy, but I have a little more faith.in him as a pro then Bradford. He will have to sit for at year, and both his OTs and QBs are already here

dude i like barkley a lot, i think RG3 still gets drafted over him and i think barkley knew that too and thats why he stayed

 

Hugggggge misconception that he favors Razorbacks. We'be only drafted one and had 2 on the roster (Jones and Hamlin) since he owned to team.

I dobt we would trade up for a QB that isn't going to play as a rookie and there are possibly 9 QBs that could go inbthe first 3 rounds
