Mike Lynn, the former Vikings general manager who infamously engineered the 12-for-1 trade for Herschel Walker, died Saturday, the team said in a statement. "The Vikings are deeply saddened by the passing of Mike Lynn," the team said. "He was instrumental of the success of the Vikings for many years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Lynn family at this difficult time." Lynn, who served as general manager from 1975 to 1990, was 76. He had been in living in the Memphis area and reportedly had been in failing health. In 1989, he sent five players and seven draft picks to Dallas for Walker, the former Heisman Trophy-winning running back. The draft picks helped lay the foundation for three Cowboys Super Bowl victories in the 1990s.

Dallas fans should give their respects. Here's the guy that gave the Cowboys the ammo to build one of the last dynasties in the NFL.
