Giants DE Osi Umenyiora Says Redskins QB RGIII Hasn’t Earned His Nickname

Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora will not refer to Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III as RG3 even though that’s basically what everyone calls him, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports. “Who is this RG3 guy you guys keep talking about?’’ Umenyiora said. “You talking about Bob Griffin? You guys are giving him a cool nickname already and everything. When he does anything in the NFL we’re gonna call him RG3. Right now he’s Bob Griffin.’’

Osi always have something to say. He just needs to shut up and stop hating cus no one gives him any attention. Osi jus mad they didn't come up wit a name for him. You don't have to earn a nickname when it's simply abbrv for his real name. Ahhh COME ON OSI. :icon_rolleyes:

 

I understand it's his name and all, and he can do what he wants with it, but I personally find the whole "Third" business almost obnoxious. There's plenty of people who are "the third" yet don't make a song and dance over it, and that includes ones with Sr/Jr who are actually relevant (Eg. The three Clay Matthews).

I suppose in the end it's all about name recognition and marketing, and hard to disprove that it's working.

Anyway, back to the topic on hand, NFC East droning...
