Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz attempted to clean up the controversy surrounding his comments that were seemingly directed toward McCarthy this offseason, Anwar Richardson of Mlive.com. Green Bay took its players skeet shooting this offseason, and a few days after during Detroit's minicamp, Schwartz said, "We had no sporting clays today or no amusement parks or water parks," which was seemingly aimed at McCarthy. However, Schwartz says that was not the case. "You know what's really funny?" Schwartz said after Tuesday's practice. "I had no idea that it was even that. I had players who were saying, 'Hey coach, somebody went skeet shooting. Somebody went to a water park. You know what's really funny? (Bill) Keenist (Lions Senior Vice President of Communications) sent me that article, and the day that article came out, you know what I was doing? Skeet shooting. I thought that was the funniest thing. "That literally was about us and about where we were. It had nothing to do with any other thing." McCarthy believed Schwartz's comments had everything to do with the Packers, and fired back during an interview this offseason." "We have a lot of confidence in the way we run our program, and we're always trying to make it better," McCarthy said. "And I think skeet shooting is going to be the difference in us getting back to the Super Bowl. So there." Schwartz was asked about McCarthy's response, but had less to say about that subject after today's practice. "It don't matter to me," Schwartz said. Source: The Redzone
