Hey everyone I was just curious as to how many people were aware that American football is growing rapidly in popularity across Europe?

I mean not as big as the 80s but it's getting there!

I used to play university ball here - fun and a hell of a lot less serious than the states!

I play senior league in the UK now and we pay to play but it's for a love of the game!

Check out DBL COverage or my team is Gateshead Senators!

Best teams in the UK would be the London Blitz and London Warriors (who just had ray Lewis at their training camp)

I know in Poland as well their recent final had 30000 fans which is amazing for an amateur sport in these parts!

glad to hear that football is growing in popularity overseas. It is a great game. Hell, I even liked the European Football league. Love all football.

Miss the ol WLAF. I was post-USFL so I never got another pro league until then. Still remember I was a Knights fan because they had Reggie Slack at QB who was the Oilers 3rd stringer in 90-91. It's a great game and I am glad it's popularity is growing. With that said, I hope we get to a point where there is a league that works overseas. Having NFL teams overseas will be a logistical nightmare. Who wants to be the first team out west who has to travel to a road game overseas? At some point someone is taking that trip in a short week.

It wouldn't be pleasant going the other direction either. It wouldn't be a good thing for anybody involved. A European team wouldn't be able to sign any free agents either, because who's going to want to move there and leave their whole family? It's just an awful idea.

That said, the more it grows the better as long as we keep the NFL teams from residing there (don't mind seeing a game or 2 played there every season).

You'd need a whole separate league for the pro game to work overseas IMO. Who knows, maybe in time you can make it were the NFL champ plays the other league's champ in a title game. That pipedream is wayyyyyyy down the road though. Like not in my lifetime down the road.
