Though he's been suspended for the 2012 season, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton will be attending the Pro Football Hall of Fame's enshrinement ceremony on Saturday night, Larry Holder of The Times-Picayune reports. Two players being inducted on Saturday night have connections to the Saints organization, offensive tackle Willie Roaf was a perennial Pro Bowler with the Saints from 1993 to 2001 and defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy spent his playing career with the Seattle Seahawks, but worked as an adviser to the Saints after his retirement. Payton requested and received permission from the NFL to attend the ceremony, league spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed to NFL Network and NFL.com. However, Payton will not be allowed to have any contact with the Saints or attend Sunday night's Hall of Game between the Saints and Arizona Cardinals.

What connection does Payton have with the Saints and the Hall of Fame?

He's the embattled coach of the team of a player who played for them. And the team he can't coach is playing in the hall of fame game.

So basically, he should just buy a ticket.

    Did he coach Roaf?

Nope, he never coached Roaf at all.

Kind of surprising to me that the NFL approved this. He really has no connection then, other than the suspended head coach of a team playing in the HOF game...

He's not allowed to 'socially interact' with players.

So why even allow him there? That's what I don't get. If the Saints make the Super Bowl, will he get permission there too...lol.

I guess it depends on if Lord Goodell is pleased the moment he has to make that decision.

He probably won't be allowed to attend the actual game, but could he participate in the events the week leading up to the big game?!?
