A lack of pass protection and Jayron Hosley’s pick-six of Mark Sanchez highlighted a forgettable performance for an offense looking for any positive vibe in the preseason. Eight months after the Giants put the Jets into free-fall with a crushing Christmas Eve loss, Rex Ryan’s team struggled to generate a touchdown for the second consecutive week. Sanchez has yet to engineer a scoring drive in eight preseason series. “It’s not time to hit the panic button,†said Sanchez, who went 9-for-11 for 59 yards and that interception. “Are we pleased with what we put on film tonight? No…. It’s got to get better.†A few days after the Jets broke camp in Cortland with plenty of optimism, Gang Green’s first-team offense looked disjointed in the first half. Sanchez & Co. didn’t convert a third down (0-6), turned the ball over on downs once and committed untimely penalties. “Clearly we’ve got to get more production in the regular season than we’ve gotten in these two preseason games,†Ryan said. “But I’m 100% sure that when we kick it off for real, we’ll have more production. There’s absolutely no doubt about that.†Source: New York Daily News
