His New York Giants teammates might have been sending Prince Amukamara a message when he was dumped into the cold tub by Jason Pierre-Paul, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports. As he was being carried to the tub, someone could be heard on the video yelling, “You better stand up for yourself.†But when Justin Tuck was asked if hazing Amukamara could lead to him showing “more of an edge†on the field, he didn’t deny that’s something the 2011 first-round pick needs. “I think he’s doing pretty good,†Tuck said. “Obviously you would like to see him be a little bit more vocal, a little bit more — as the young kids say — ‘swag.’†“He’s got to,†Corey Webster added. “It’s a cornerback thing. We’re going out there every play alone. D-linemen have linebackers behind them. Linebackers have safeties behind them. Most of the time (at corner) it’s just you out there, so you’ve got to have that kind of arrogance, the kind of confidence to go out and get that job done.†The soft-spoken Amukamara, by contrast, is more often praised by teammates for his intelligence and his studious nature – not necessarily his toughness. The second-year pro from Nebraska knows it, too. He just thinks his looks can be deceiving. “I do get told that cornerbacks are supposed to just have the most ‘swag’ and a lot of confidence,†he said. “I think that just develops through your play.
