Locked-out game officials are willing to sit out for much of the season, if not all of it, several of them told Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com. The officials say they are determined to win this fight with the NFL, but this doesn't mean they will. This doesn't mean a deal will be struck sooner or later but they are without question determined. "This is a battle of right and wrong," one official said. "We are willing to wait for as long as it takes." That's their mantra, whether you believe it or do not that is what they feel -- that they are fighting the NFL's attempt at union busting (the NFL vehemently denies this). The main front in this battle remains how the officials' pensions are distributed, the NFL wants to alter the current system. Source: The Redzone
So eventually to scan officials will be real officials and the real officials won't have second jobs anymore... It has the potential to be a horrible situation for the league, but let's just say the officiating isn't that bad...then what are the "old officials" gonna do? Can the NFL just stick with the "scabs?"
They can use the replacements until a game is decided the wrong way. Maybe that's what the strikers are counting on?
This. The longer the replacements are in, the more experience they will get. Gotta be careful with how the old boys play this.
Hopefully they get better and soon. I don't care how it plays out, so long as the right calls are made, etc. This can take away from a LOT. Fans. Implications on playoffs, etc.
Lol. And didn't Hochuli like royally heck over the Chargers or Broncos a year or two ago? Like a fumble or non-fumble? But yeah, the second the replacements get a bad call, they'll be crucified
Yeah...I think he did...real bad. They'll be crucified just like any other official would...pribably a little more by the fans than normal...eventually, the fans will just clump them all in with the real guys as butthole officials. But the media will unfortunately for them, take it to the next level...a whole new level and be sure to blow it up so EVERYONE can see it...
I kinda don't buy the injury argument. Most of that stuff is looked at after the fact anyhow and the fines are dealt then. If an injury were to happen, it's probably going to happen no matter what official is out there.
What if Big Ben gets hurt because a part-time ref misses a call down in the trenches? That's the problem with part-time refs. You don't know what they will call and what they will let go.
THat could happen with the real refs too... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbtnWhAqUCM"]Ben Roethlisberger broken nose vs the Ravens - YouTube[/ame]
