On his second career carry, in the Giants' 24-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys Giants first-round pick David Wilson fumbled the ball after being leveled by Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee.

He didn’t see another snap out of the Giants backfield, Jorge Castillo of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

“It’s hard to put it behind you if that’s the last play you can remember,â€￾ said Wilson, who only returned kicks for the remainder of the game. “But I understand the coaches. I know I don’t have much room for error being a rookie and then to have a critical error like that, like a turnover. You live and you learn and move forward.â€￾

Ball security was a concern with Wilson when he declared for the NFL Draft as a junior out of Virginia Tech, where he fumbled the ball seven times and lost four last season.

Good idea not to get the rookie back out there to regain his confidence...why would you want to do that. Cowboys shoulda benched Romo after his INT...

Doesn't make a lot of sense. Week 1. Mistakes are going to happen. And, he's a rookie. I agree with Ward, here. Should have showed you had confidence he can rebound from that, not bench him.
