The NFL suspended Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden for four games without pay on Monday for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances, NFL.com reports. Haden had reportedly failed a test for taking Adderall, which is on the NFL’s banned substance list. Haden’s suspension will start immediately and he will be eligible to return to the Browns active roster on Oct. 8. Browns president Mike Holmgren said last week that Haden already had his appeal hearing with the league. Haden was allowed to play in the Browns opening day 17-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he recorded six tackles and had an interception. Source: Sports Illustrated
The Browns really needed anything to happen except this. The Defense was the lone bright spot on that time and its already been rattled with injuries and Scott Fujita's bounty participation now they lose their star corner too? I love this young Browns D but losing Haden is a huge blow.
Said I love the Browns D and I do. I think they have an upside. Don't have to love a team to appreciate the players.
My guess is because people abuse it, you can get the bans overturned with a prescription there is a precedent for that in the NFL.
adderall can be used for weight loss, but in hadens case it would be that it zones him in making his action/reaction time quicker.
