Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is signed through the 2013 season. Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News reports Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones was asked Tuesday when a possible Romo extension could be in the works. “I don’t even get into when or how regarding contracts,†Jones responded on 105.3 [KRLD-FM] The Fan’s New School show. “That’ll have a timetable that I’m sure will be comfortable for Tony as well as the Cowboys.†Source: The Redzone
Tony's not going anywhere as long as he puts up good numbers. Unless the Cowboys pull a coup and find a high quality replacement, hes a Cowboy for life.
This. Chipper10: You never answered my question about who you'd rather have as a QB during the playoffs. Romo or Ryan.
I never saw the question. And, given the success of both of them in the playoffs, that is a hard choice. And you really think that Jerry JOnes will continue to put up with NOT making the playoffs? Whether its one person's fault or not, he'll make changes if needed. And back to the question, I'd probably have to say Romo. Ryan is overrated IMO. That's not to say Romo isn't, but he puts up good numbers until the end of the season for the most part. Romo in big games scare me. And I've even got a DIE HARD Cowboys fan sitting next to me at work that says the same. But luckily, I don't have to worry about having Romo or Ryan. I just have to deal with a CRAPPY defense and no head coach right now lol.
Its not blind hatred. It's looking at the seasons. Romo vs Ryan in the playoffs? That would be interesting to see. But, Jones is going to want playoff wins. Not great september and octobers.
They need to extend him. This year, he will count $8.06 million against the cap. However, in 2013, that number more than doubles to $16.8 million. Keep in mind the $5 million they'll lose by the NFL cap sanction they got earlier this year.
If we miss the playoffs, its almost a lock we draft a QB in the first next draft and sit him while Romo plays out the last year of his deal. Given his age by the time his deal is up, they may have no Intention of extending him Sent from my HTC Vivid
No, if they aren't in the mid first, I think they may trade to the mid. Deep class this year Sent from my HTC Vivid
