Giants center David Baas and left guard Kevin Boothe have each been fined $7,875 for unnecessary roughness, Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger reports. This according to a person with knowledge of the fines levied, that person requested anonymity because the NFL does not announce fines. Baas' fine was for unnecessarily striking an opponent in the head area, and Boothe was fined for a strike to an opponent's neck area. The play sparked a controversy, as Giants players and coach Tom Coughlin were upset after they said the Buccaneers made a play for the ball by diving helmet-first at the center and guards' knees, as per Schiano's orders. The Giants were trying to kneel out the clock in a victory formation, quarterback Eli Manning was knocked to the turf on the play. Source: The Redzone
